The TG-6 delivers Tough performance that is waterproof to 15 m, dustproof, shockproof to 2.1 m, crushproof to 100 kgf, freezeproof to -10℃, and anti-fogging. These features make for worry-free use in the harshest environments.
Sealing and a double-lock mechanism delivers waterproof performance up to depths of 15 m1. Not only does this make it possible to shoot in heavy rain, but it also lets you shoot while snorkelling.
The design features an airtight construction that shuts out sand and dust1. If your camera gets dirty, simply rinse with fresh water to wash off any excess dirt.
Even with a large, bright f/2.0 lens, this model can still clear drop tests of up to 2.1m. Olympus know-how has been utilised in every facet, including the lens shape, lens positioning, and the lens drive method, resulting in a high level of shock-absorbing performance1.
To protect all inner parts including the lens unit and circuit boards, an interior protective structure which can withstand a weight of 100kgf1 has been employed. With this crushproof construction, you won't have to worry about accidentally sitting on your camera when carrying it in your back pocket.
Operation at low temperatures is guaranteed down to -10℃1. With this feature, you can feel confident capturing your ski and snowboarding trips, and other winter adventures.
The dual-pane protective glass helps prevent lens fogging in locations with sudden changes in temperature1.
The new LB-T01 Lens Barrier accessory (available separately) helps protect the lens surface from scratches and dirt. It can be opened and closed easily, by simply turning the edge, even when wearing gloves.
The bright F2.0 high-resolution lens delivers high image quality thanks to a combination of the high-speed back-illuminated CMOS image sensor and the latest image processor.
The TG-6 features a high-resolution, F2.0 lens with an optical 4x zoom. Lenses developed with advanced optical technology are used, including a DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lens for high image quality. The bright F2.0 lens makes it possible to use a fast shutter speed to reduce subject blur, even when capturing moving subjects in dark locations.
4.5-18.0mm (35mm equivalent: 25 - 100mm), F2.0 - 4.9, optical 4x zoom
The TG-6 is equipped with a 2x digital teleconverter, enabling zooming up to 8x (35mm equivalent: 25 - 200mm). It provides a broad range of photography, from wide-angle bird's-eye view of scenic landscapes, to zoomed-in telephoto close-ups of distant subjects.
This camera is equipped with a high-speed, high-sensitivity back-lit CMOS image sensor, and the TruePic VIII, the same image processor as on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II professional model. This design allows for low noise and high-resolution image quality.
Anti-reflective (AR) coating is now used on both sides of the sealing glass over the image sensor. This construction minimises ghosts and flaring.
The TG-6 allows shooting in RAW format. RAW images can be edited and processed on a computer using the new image editing software, Olympus Workspace. RAW processing on the camera is also supported.
The Variable Macro System consists of four modes and two separately available accessories for macro shooting. This system makes it possible to capture amazing photos of the tiniest details.
1. Microscope Mode
2. Microscope Control Mode
3. Focus Stacking
4. Focus Bracketing
This mode provides amazing macro shooting capabilities, able to photograph subjects up to 1 cm away from the end of the lens. Using the optical zoom, it is possible to zoom in on subjects for a view that is almost like looking through a microscope. (35mm equivalent image magnification: 7x)
The display magnification factor appears on the rear monitor when a subject is 1 cm away from the end of the lens, and it can be switched between 1x, 2x, and 4x with a single touch of the screen. This feature delivers an observation and shooting experience as if switching the objective lens on a microscope. The display magnification factor can be set to a maximum of 44.4x* (shooting magnification: 28x).
This mode composites varying depths of field by capturing multiple images at different focal positions. It lets you take macro photos that are completely in focus from the front to the back. 3 to 10 shots can be set for compositing. A smaller number of composite shots means that compositing time is shorter, and a larger number results in a greater range in focus.
Simply press the shutter once to capture up to 30 shots while gradually shifting the focal location in Focus Bracketing. Because the impression of macro photos changes drastically according to the focal location, Focus Bracketing can be used to select the best shots depending on the focal location when checking recorded images. The amount of focal shift can be selected from three different options. (35mm equivalent image magnification: 7x)
Up-close macro shooting up to 1 cm* from the end of the lens is possible even in P and A modes.
The dedicated underwater mode for capturing high quality images underwater is now more advanced than ever. Accessories that support underwater photography are also enhanced, with the addition of the fisheye converter lens for circular fisheye photography.
This model is equipped with five modes that are optimal for underwater shooting. Simply set the mode dial to Underwater.
This mode is optimised for close-up shooting of small subjects. Zoom in close on subjects via telephoto and use the flash for sharp and clear images.
This mode lets you shoot extreme close-ups of subjects from 1 cm away from the end of the lens. With this feature, it is possible to magnify subjects as if using a microscope underwater.
This mode is optimised for shooting in dark underwater conditions. Various settings such as the flash, auto-focus, white balance, and others are optimised for photos with a real sense of presence.
The camera uses natural light when shooting in pools and other shallow water for natural colours of underwater subjects and snapshots.
Multiple images are recorded at different exposures, and composited to dramatically reproduce both bright and dark underwater sections.
There are now three more underwater white balance options to select from in order to achieve the optimal colour reproduction depending on the depth of water. Each of the five underwater modes has the optimal underwater WB preset (can be changed if desired).
Separately available accessories that can be used underwater include fisheye converters (two types) and a teleconverter lens.
This fisheye converter lens enables circular fisheye photography. Simply change the zoom position to capture both circular and diagonal fisheye shots. It features a waterproof treatment, enabling further opportunities to capture underwater scenes. The interior of the lens is filled with nitrogen gas, preventing internal fogging due to temperature differences.
This fisheye converter lens provides 130-degree fisheye shooting capabilities for capturing wider landscape photos. The FCON-T01 Fisheye Converter is waterproof and is most useful in underwater photography where the angle of view becomes narrow. The interior of the lens is filled with nitrogen gas, preventing internal fogging due to temperature differences.
This teleconverter lens converts the focal length to 1.7x. Far-away landscapes can be captured at a larger size. The interior of this waterproof lens is filled with nitrogen gas, preventing internal fogging due to temperature differences.
This underwater housing made exclusively for the TG-6 can withstand pressure to a water depth of 45m. Even when installed in the case, the camera control dial can be used for exposure compensation. The front surface is black to prevent any unwanted reflections. The case supports the use of two external flash units.
